While the 12 step program of Alcoholics Anonymous was initially based on the Big Book of AA, at Healing Beyond Borders we will adapt this program to suit the needs of the community and ensure it is culturally appropriate.

"IF YOU WORK IT, IT WORKS"
A 2020 study by Stanford University suggests that 12-Step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) may be at least as effective as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and other scientifically-based interventions for alcohol use disorder. Specifically, participants in 12-Step programs had a higher likelihood of abstinence compared to other treatments, with some studies finding that AA is significantly better than other interventions.
